According to the National Center for Education Statistics in their article “College crime,” those entering college for the first time should know all instances of campus crime are recorded and therefore we are able to have reasonably accurate information on the rate of campus crime.
“The Clery Act requires postsecondary degree-granting institutions to report data for several types of crimes, including the following seven against persons and property on their campuses: murder, sex offenses (forcible and nonforcible), robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, and arson,” the National Center for Education Statistics said.
