As reported by JDSUPRA in their article “New Legislation Affecting New York’s Rental Market: The Good Cause Eviction Law,” the Good Cause eviction law, that took effect April 20, 2024, indicates a landlord needs sufficient cause to remove a tenant from their property.

“Under “Good Cause,” unless an exemption applies, landlords are now restricted from removing a tenant from an apartment, unless it has “Good Cause” to do so,” JDSUPRA said.
